In 2015 East Melbourne Chabad was formed in order to create an outreach program for travelers, students and locals staying or living in the downtown area of Melbourne short ot long term.

In 1857 the East Melbourne Synagogue was formed as an iconic and central Synagogue for Melbourne's Jewish community. As the Jewish community shifted away from the inner city areas the role of the Synagogue evolved into a much broader role in serving tourists, visitors, city workers and all comers.

Recently a partnership with formed between Chabad and the City Synagogue to provide a unified one stop shop and entry point for Jewish visitors to Melbourne. Whether you are seeking Kosher food, prayers, minyanim, shabbat hospitality, Jewish friendly accommodation or connections to our community, Rabbi Dovid Gutnick and his wife Rachel are here to assist.
